Election Commission Conducts Review Meeting on Agra's Electoral Roll Revision for 2026

In Agra, a significant review meeting concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls took place on Friday. The session was presided over by Sanjay Kumar Agrawal, the joint secretary of the agriculture and farmers' welfare department, who also serves as a special roll observer appointed by the Election Commission of India.

Comprehensive Presentations on Electoral Data and Progress

During the meeting, districts within the Agra division delivered detailed presentations. These covered constituency-wise progress reports, providing insights into the total number of assembly constituencies. The data presented included comprehensive statistics on voters, such as male and female voter counts, gender ratios, EP ratios, voters with disabilities, service voters, individuals aged 85 years and above, and youth demographics. Additionally, the official reviewed information pertaining to the deployment of key electoral personnel, including electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers, supervisors, and booth-level officers (BLOs).

Focus on Digitization and Voter Mapping Updates

Sanjay Kumar Agrawal sought constituency-wise updates on several critical aspects of the electoral process. This included the digitization and mapping of voters, the appointment of booth-level agents by political parties, and the processing and disposal of Form 6 applications. He also examined requests received through the 'book a call' facility, grievances registered on the toll-free number 1950, and issues reported via the national government services portal, along with their redressal status.

Strict Procedures for Unmapped Voters and Notice Delivery

The meeting placed a strong emphasis on handling unmapped voters. Agrawal reviewed the status of notices issued to these individuals, including hearing procedures and actions taken during special campaigns for claims and objections. He directed that hearings related to unmapped voters must be attended exclusively by the voter concerned or a duly authorized person or family member, stressing strict adherence to this protocol during the disposal of notices.

Furthermore, Agrawal instructed officials to ensure 100% delivery of notices generated under the SIR initiative to unmapped voters through BLOs. He also mandated the completion of disposal processes for notices issued to voters whose mapping with the 2003 electoral roll remains incomplete, underscoring the importance of accuracy and efficiency in the electoral roll revision efforts.
