Haryana Congress Monitors Voter List Revision

The Haryana Congress on Tuesday announced that it is fully alert to safeguard voters' rights during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, unveiling a comprehensive strategy to monitor the process across the state.

Meeting of Action and Monitoring Committee

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Action and Monitoring Committee formed by the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) to review the voter list revision drive. Senior party leaders stressed that every eligible voter's name must be correctly included in the electoral rolls, and no voter should be removed without proper verification.

Key Attendees and Context

The meeting was attended by Haryana Congress chief Rao Narendra Singh, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Congress co-incharges Jitendra Baghel and Praful Gudhe, along with several senior leaders and MLAs. The Congress decision came within two days after the BJP also formulated its strategies for the SIR process.

A one-day training camp was also organised for District Congress Committee presidents and BLA-1 representatives from all 90 Assembly constituencies. During the session, National Connect Centre vice chairman Captain Arvind and his team trained workers on voter registration, correction of errors, updating records of deceased or shifted voters, and online as well as offline procedures.

Door-to-Door Verification

Leaders said trained workers would conduct door-to-door verification to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of voting rights. The programme began with floral tributes to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
