Kanpur Booth Day: Fourth Voter List Revision Campaign Sunday

Kanpur District to Conduct Fourth Booth Day for Voter List Revision This Sunday

Kanpur is set to host a crucial Booth Day this Sunday as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision Programme–2026. The campaign will be organized across all 3,770 polling stations in the district, marking the fourth such initiative under this program.

District Election Officer Outlines Campaign Objectives

District Election Officer Jitendra Pratap Singh has confirmed that this special campaign is being conducted in strict adherence to the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The primary goal is to enhance the accuracy, update the information, and eliminate errors from the voter list, ensuring it is as precise and reliable as possible.

This follows earlier campaign days held on January 11, January 18, and January 31, demonstrating a sustained effort to refine the electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.

Key Activities and Timings for Booth Day

On Sunday, Booth Day will facilitate the acceptance of claims and objections related to various modifications in the voter list. Citizens can request:

  • Addition of new names
  • Deletion of existing names
  • Corrections or amendments to current entries

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be stationed at all polling booths throughout the district from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM to assist voters. They will have ample copies of the necessary forms, including:

  1. Form 6 – for adding a new voter
  2. Form 6A – for Indian voters residing abroad
  3. Form 7 – for deleting a name from the list
  4. Form 8 – for making amendments to existing details

Support Systems and Citizen Participation

To streamline the process, help desks will be established at each polling station. These desks are designed to provide guidance and support to citizens in correctly filling out the required forms, thereby minimizing errors and ensuring smooth submissions.

The draft voter list, which was published on January 6, will be available for public scrutiny at every booth. This allows eligible voters to verify their entries and make necessary changes on the spot.

District Election Officer Jitendra Pratap Singh has urged all eligible citizens to visit their respective polling booths during the scheduled hours. He emphasized the importance of personal verification to confirm that all details in the voter list are accurate and up-to-date.

This initiative underscores the Election Commission's commitment to maintaining a robust and inclusive electoral system, empowering voters to actively participate in the democratic process by ensuring their registration is correct.
