Kanpur Voter List Update: 74.29% Forms Verified, 9 Lakh ASD Voters Identified
Kanpur: Over 26 Lakh Voter Forms Verified in SIR Drive

In a significant step towards ensuring an accurate electoral roll, the Kanpur district administration has verified the enumeration forms of a substantial majority of voters under a special campaign. The review of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive revealed crucial data about the district's voter demographics and the status of the revision process.

Extensive Verification Underway

District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, during a review meeting held on Tuesday, disclosed that the booth level officers (BLOs) have verified the forms of 2,628,422 voters. This figure represents an impressive 74.29% of the total electorate in Kanpur district. The total number of voters, as per the list dated October 27, 2025, stands at 3,538,261.

The DM informed representatives from all political parties that as of December 16, the verification of these over 26 lakh forms was complete. Concurrently, the crucial mapping work for an additional 6,08,747 voters is being actively carried out by the BLOs across the district.

Focus on Absent, Shifted, and Deceased Voters

A key aspect of the revision is the identification of voters who are no longer resident at their registered address. The district magistrate stated that the number of Absent, Shifted, and Deceased (ASD) voters has been pegged at 9,07,094. This constitutes 25.64% of the total voter count, highlighting the scale of the cleanup operation required to maintain a pristine electoral roll.

In line with Election Commission directives, special meetings are being organized with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and BLOs at polling stations with the highest incidence of 'no-mapping'. The objective is to leverage cooperation from political parties to prepare a list that is error-free, updated, and accurate. The ASD list for all assembly constituencies is publicly accessible on the District Election Officer's portal at https://kanpurnagar.nic.in/deo-portal/.

Political Parties Concur, New Voters Encouraged

Representatives from various political parties, including the BJP, SP, and CPI(M), attended the review. They apprised the District Election Officer that no major deficiency of any kind had been brought to the notice of their party's BLAs in the ASD voter lists made available so far, indicating a smooth process of collaboration.

The District Election Officer issued important reminders for eligible citizens. He urged those who are not registered as voters anywhere or who have not received their counting form to fill out Form-6 and submit it to their BLO or apply via the Voter Helpline App. He clarified that all citizens who will turn 18 years of age on or before January 1 are eligible for enrollment. A strict warning was also issued against filling more than one enumeration form under any circumstances.

The electoral registration officers of the district have convened meetings with BLOs and BLAs, ensuring all agents are present with the ASD voter lists as mandated by the Election Commission. This concerted effort underscores the administration's commitment to conducting elections based on a robust and reliable voter database.
