Five native candidates from Khagaria district experienced varying fortunes in the recently concluded Bihar assembly elections, with only one managing to secure victory across five different constituencies.
Mixed Performance Across Constituencies
The electoral battle saw candidates from Khagaria competing in diverse constituencies including Digha in Patna, Bihariganj in Madhepura, Cheria Bariyarpur in Begusarai, Bibhutipur in Samastipur, and Sultanganj in Bhagalpur. Among the five contenders, only Ajai Kumar of CPM emerged victorious, continuing his political legacy in the region.

The Cheria Bariyarpur segment in Begusarai district saw Sushil Kumar, son of former Chief Minister Satish Prasad Singh, facing defeat in his RJD campaign. JD(U) candidate Abhishek Anand emerged victorious with a margin of 4,119 votes, polling 75,081 votes against Kumar's 70,962 votes.
Sultanganj's Three-Way Contest
In Sultanganj constituency of Bhagalpur district, Lalan Kumar of Congress finished third in a triangular contest that saw Grand Alliance partners RJD and Congress competing against each other. JD(U) candidate Shubhanand Mukesh won decisively with a margin of 50,112 votes, securing 130,767 votes against RJD nominee's 80,655 votes.
