All arrangements have been finalized at the northern campus of B N Mandal University in Madhepura, where the crucial counting of votes for four key assembly constituencies will take place on Friday. The district administration has left no stone unturned in ensuring a smooth and transparent counting process.
Counting Infrastructure and Setup
The counting center has been equipped with 18 specialized tables to handle the electoral process efficiently. Among these, 14 tables are designated for general votes while four separate tables have been arranged specifically for postal ballots. Each counting table will be managed by a dedicated team consisting of one supervisor, one micro observer, and one counting assistant to maintain accuracy and transparency throughout the process.
Additionally, the administration has set up one extra table for the assistant returning officer for each of the four assembly segments. This comprehensive arrangement ensures that every aspect of the counting operation is properly supervised and documented.
Security Measures and Official Oversight
Madhepura District Magistrate Taranjot Singh, who also serves as the district election officer, personally inspected the counting venue to review the security arrangements and overall preparedness. The inspection focused particularly on the security protocols for the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and other critical infrastructure.
The sealed EVMs are currently stored under three-layer security provided by central armed forces, ensuring complete protection of the voting machines. The storage facility maintains round-the-clock power supply to prevent any technical disruptions or security breaches before the counting begins at 8 am sharp.
Segment-wise Counting Procedure
Each of the four assembly segments - Alamnagar, Behariganj, Madhepura and Singheshwar - will have separate counting rooms to maintain organizational efficiency and prevent any confusion during the process. The counting agents representing all contesting candidates, including those from prominent political parties, will be permitted to observe the entire counting procedure to ensure complete transparency.
The counting operations are expected to proceed in multiple rounds across different segments. According to the schedule, Alamnagar segment will require 31 rounds of counting, followed by Madhepura with 29 rounds, Behariganj with 28 rounds, and Singheshwar with 26 rounds. This systematic approach will ensure that every vote is counted accurately and the results are declared without unnecessary delays.
The elaborate preparations reflect the election commission's commitment to conducting a fair and transparent counting process that maintains the integrity of the democratic exercise.
