Madhya Pradesh Hits 99.66% Digital Voter Mapping, Bhopal Catches Up
MP Achieves 99.66% Digital Voter Enumeration

In a significant push towards finalising its electoral database, Madhya Pradesh has achieved a near-complete digital mapping of voters under the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2023. The state, which initially saw a slow start, has now digitised enumeration forms for 99.66% of its total voters as of Saturday.

State Nears Full Voter Digitisation

Official data reveals that out of a total of 5,74,06,143 voters in the state, filled enumeration forms for 5,72,10,271 voters have been received and successfully digitised. This leaves only about 1.95 lakh voter forms yet to be submitted, with the enumeration process continuing until December 11. The drive is part of a simultaneous process being conducted across 12 states and Union Territories.

District-Wise Performance and Bhopal's Progress

Sources from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer stated that 53 districts in Madhya Pradesh have completed more than 99% of the enumeration work. Only two districts, Ujjain and Bhopal, were recorded below the 99% mark in digitisation. Notably, the state capital, Bhopal, which was previously lagging, managed to accelerate its process and completed 98.23% digitisation of forms by 6 pm on Saturday.

Next Steps and Data Verification

All voters whose filled forms have been received will see their names appear in the draft electoral rolls scheduled for publication on December 16. However, officials identified a current challenge: between 5% to 10% of the received forms contain data that could not be matched with the previous 2003 SSR database.

Authorities expect this discrepancy rate to decrease as the form collection is nearly over, giving Booth Level Officers (BLOs) ample time to re-check and rectify the data before the December 11 deadline. For voters whose data remains unmatched by the time the draft rolls are published, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will serve notices. These individuals will need to provide any one of the 11 documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India to ensure their names are retained on the final voters' list.
