NDA Crosses 200 Seats in Bihar, Nitish Kumar's Future as CM in Question
NDA Wins Bihar with 200+ Seats, CM Post Debate Begins

In a historic performance that has reshaped Bihar's political landscape, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has achieved its best-ever result, crossing the 200-seat mark and leaving the opposition Mahagathbandhan trailing far behind with just 33 seats.

NDA's Record-Breaking Performance

The Narendra Modi-led alliance, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, has demonstrated overwhelming dominance in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. The massive gap between the NDA's 200+ seats and the Mahagathbandhan's 33 leads underscores a striking rejection of the opposition alliance led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress.

This resounding victory serves as a powerful endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign influence and popularity among Bihar's voters. The results have effectively silenced critics and reaffirmed the public's preference for the development-oriented governance model championed by the NDA.

The Chief Minister Conundrum

As the election results become clearer, the burning question emerging across political circles is: Who will be Bihar's next Chief Minister? While the BJP had maintained during the campaign that Nitish Kumar would continue as CM if the NDA won, the final numbers have complicated this assurance.

Nitish Kumar's JD(U) is leading on 83 seats – seven less than the BJP's tally, making the saffron party the single-largest party in the assembly, a crown it has snatched from the RJD. This numerical advantage has sparked speculation about whether the BJP might use its position to bargain for the top seat.

The political waters were further stirred when JD(U) mysteriously deleted a social media post that had explicitly stated Nitish Kumar would remain Chief Minister. This move has intensified discussions about potential alternatives for the NDA's chief ministerial nominee.

Celebrations and Political Posturing

Across Bihar, supporters of the ruling alliance have erupted in celebration as Election Commission trends confirmed the NDA's comfortable position well above the majority mark. Social media platforms are flooded with posts declaring "Tiger Zinda Hai" and "Hamre Bihar Ka Eke Star, Har Baar Nitish Kumar", indicating strong grassroots support for the veteran leader.

Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, while addressing reporters amid celebratory drumming and congratulatory handshakes outside the party office, struck a conciliatory note. "No party is big or small in the NDA," Jaiswal stated, even as the BJP outperformed ally JD(U) for the second consecutive assembly election.

Jaiswal attributed the massive victory to public appreciation for the development model implemented by both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. "The people liked the development brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. They have given us an enormous victory, an unprecedented success. For this, we bow our heads before them," he told press representatives.

The election results have not only demonstrated the NDA's continued dominance in Bihar but have also set the stage for intense negotiations and political maneuvering as the alliance partners determine who will ultimately occupy the chief minister's chair in Patna.
