The Election Commission of India (ECI) has recognized Patna district with the prestigious Best Election District Award for its exceptional and innovative voter awareness campaigns conducted during the 2025 Bihar assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha election. District Election Officer–cum–District Magistrate (DM) of Patna, Thiyagarajan S M, emphasized that this achievement is the result of collective efforts by officials and the active participation of the public. Significant Increase in Voter Turnout
One of the key outcomes of these initiatives was a notable rise in voter turnout. The district witnessed an increase from 51.12% in the 2020 elections to 59.02% in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, marking an approximate 8% growth. Additionally, this represents a 6% improvement compared to the voter participation recorded during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, underscoring the effectiveness of the awareness campaigns.
