Re-polling in West Bengal's Falta constituency begins after EC order

Re-polling began on Thursday in the Falta Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, after the Election Commission ordered a complete re-poll across all 285 polling stations. The decision came following reports of irregularities during the earlier election phase. The re-poll is being closely observed after the Bharatiya Janata Party secured a massive victory in West Bengal and formed its first-ever government in the state under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

Several voters arriving at polling booths described the atmosphere as peaceful and free from fear. One voter recalled how, nearly 15 years ago, people were allegedly prevented from even entering polling booths by local goons. He expressed happiness that the current environment feels completely different and that people are now able to cast their votes freely. Vote counting for the constituency is scheduled for May 24.
