RG Kar Victim Mother Raises Concern After Panihati Booth Chaos

Allegations of serious poll-day disruption have emerged from a polling booth in Panihati during the West Bengal Elections 2026. The mother of the RG Kar victim has raised concern following the incident. BJP candidate Ratna Debnath has claimed she was allegedly targeted earlier in the day by individuals who raised slogans against her. She also alleged police inaction when she sought intervention.

EVM Ink Blot Incident

The situation escalated further at a polling booth where an ink blot was reportedly found on the BJP symbol button on an Electronic Voting Machine. This made the symbol unclear for voters. The ink was later removed using sanitiser after objections were raised by polling agents and officials present at the site. The incident led to temporary confusion and delays, with local voters reportedly waiting for an extended period.

Tension Outside the Booth

Tension also rose outside the booth as party workers and supporters gathered, leading to a heated atmosphere on the ground. Jay Saha, Chief Election Agent for BJP candidate Ratna Debnath, was present at the location during the incident. The situation reportedly involved exchanges between political workers, further escalating tensions.
