Trichy District: Major Political Figures Cleared
In the politically significant Trichy district, nominations for key candidates were officially accepted during the scrutiny. TVK chief Vijay has been cleared to contest from the Trichy East constituency, while DMK's senior leader K N Nehru will stand from Trichy West. Additionally, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has received approval to contest from the Thiruverumbur assembly segment.
Across the nine assembly constituencies within Trichy district, election officials examined a total of 276 nominations that were filed during the submission period from March 30 to April 6. Following careful scrutiny, 191 nominations were accepted, representing approximately 69% of all filings. The remaining nominations were rejected due to various technical deficiencies or incomplete documentation.
Neighboring Districts: Similar Patterns Emerge
The scrutiny process in neighboring Karur district revealed similar patterns, with election authorities accepting 175 out of 234 nominations across four assembly constituencies. The Karur assembly segment alone witnessed particularly high interest, with 108 nominations filed and 83 ultimately accepted after scrutiny.
In Pudukkottai district, nominations for prominent political figures were also cleared. Minister S Regupathy received approval to contest from Thirumayam, while Minister Siva Meyyanathan was cleared for his constituency. Additionally, former minister and AIADMK MLA C Vijayabaskar was accepted to contest from the Viralimalai assembly segment.
Across Pudukkottai's six constituencies, election officials accepted 123 nominations in total after completing the scrutiny process. The acceptance rate across all three districts indicates a robust democratic process with multiple candidates vying for each seat.

The nomination filing period, which ran from March 30 to April 6, allowed candidates from various political parties and independents to submit their paperwork for consideration.
