Trichy District Sees Significant Voter Increase Ahead of Elections
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has finalized the voter list revisions for Trichy district, resulting in a notable expansion of the electorate. As of April 6, the nine assembly constituencies in the district have collectively added 20,748 voters after accounting for both additions and deletions approved by the ECI.
Electorate Growth and Constituency Highlights
Following the revision process, which was based on forms submitted by residents, including those from special camps, the total electorate in Trichy district has risen from 21,26,303 as of February 23 to 21,47,051. This revision marks the final exercise before the polling day scheduled for April 23.
Among the constituencies, Thiruverumbur has recorded the highest net increase in voters, followed closely by Srirangam and Trichy West. Despite these changes, Srirangam continues to hold the distinction of having the largest number of electors, with a total of 2,87,027 voters. In contrast, the Thuraiyur (reserved) constituency has the smallest electorate, comprising 2,10,685 voters.
Gender Distribution and Polling Booth Updates
A striking trend observed across all nine segments is that women voters outnumber men. The district now boasts 11,05,841 female voters compared to 10,40,900 male voters. Additionally, there are 310 third-gender voters, with the highest concentrations found in Thiruverumbur and Trichy East constituencies.
In terms of infrastructure, the number of polling booths in Trichy district has seen a slight increase, rising from 2,785 to 2,787. This adjustment includes the addition of one polling booth each in Manachanallur and Srirangam, as per the recent revision.
