TVK Election Office Torched in Trichy, Police Probe Underway

Trichy: An election campaign office of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the Srirangam assembly constituency in Trichy district was set ablaze by miscreants on Friday. The thatched shed, measuring approximately 400 square feet, was located in Kamanayakkanpalayam village near Pettaivaithalai.

At around 2:30 am, villagers noticed flames and rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire. However, despite their efforts, the shed was completely gutted. A large digital banner promoting TVK's Srirangam candidate, S Ramesh, which had been erected near the office, was also torn and heavily damaged.

A complaint was lodged at the Pettaivaithalai police station by Veera Siva, TVK farmers' wing district secretary. Police have initiated an investigation and are searching for the suspects. Meanwhile, Ramesh demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.

Ramesh claimed that opposition parties were planning violent acts against him and his workers on counting day. He has urged the authorities to provide additional security at the counting centre to ensure that vote counting is conducted fairly and with complete integrity.
