Uttar Pradesh Launches Intensive Voter Enrollment Drive Across All Polling Stations

In a significant move to bolster democratic participation, the state of Uttar Pradesh conducted a special statewide drive on Saturday aimed at including all eligible citizens in the voter lists. This initiative is part of the special intensive revision for the year 2026, as announced by UP Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa.

Focus on Women and First-Time Voters

The campaign was meticulously organized at every polling station across the state, with a primary focus on registering eligible citizens, particularly women and first-time voters. Officials emphasized the use of Form-6 along with necessary declaration forms to facilitate this process. This targeted approach seeks to address historical gaps in voter registration and empower underrepresented groups in the electoral framework.

High-Level Monitoring and Transparency Measures

To ensure transparency and effective implementation, a team of senior officials undertook extensive visits to polling stations. This group included:

  • The Chief Electoral Officer
  • Officers from the CEO office
  • Divisional commissioners
  • District election officers
  • Deputy district election officers
  • Electoral registration officers
  • Assistant electoral registration officers

During these inspections, officials reviewed the arrangements at polling stations and assessed the performance of Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Key checks ensured that BLOs were present on time, provided draft electoral rolls to voters, and clearly explained deletions due to reasons such as death, migration, duplication, or other factors.

Ensuring Adequate Resources and Assistance

A critical aspect of the drive was verifying the adequate availability of essential forms, including Forms 6, 7, and 8. All eligible visitors received assistance in filling out Form-6 with the required declarations, streamlining the enrollment process and reducing barriers to participation.

Objective: Accurate and Error-Free Voter Lists

Officials stated that the core objective of this special revision is to maintain voter lists that are accurate, updated, and error-free. The goal is to ensure that no eligible voter remains excluded from the electoral process, thereby strengthening the integrity of elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Citizen Engagement and Future Steps

Citizens have been strongly urged to proactively check their names in the electoral roll and submit any claims or objections. This can be done through multiple channels:

  1. Online via the official website voters.eci.gov.in
  2. Through the ECINET mobile application
  3. Offline by contacting their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs)

By leveraging these platforms, the Election Commission aims to further enhance the reliability and comprehensiveness of the voter lists, fostering a more inclusive and robust democratic system in the state.
