In preparation for upcoming elections, Uttarakhand's election machinery has been working diligently on comprehensive voter engagement initiatives across the Himalayan state. According to official statements, the pre-Special Intensive Revision activities have made significant progress, with approximately 75% of voter mapping work already completed using the 2003 electoral roll as reference.
Progress Across Assembly Constituencies
Chief Electoral Officer BVRC Purushottam confirmed that the extensive outreach campaign has successfully mapped three-quarters of voters across all 70 assembly constituencies during the initial phase. The mapping initiative represents a crucial step in ensuring electoral accuracy and voter accessibility throughout the state.
District-Wide Performance Variations
The voter mapping exercise has revealed interesting geographical patterns in completion rates. Rudraprayag district emerged as the top performer with an impressive 94.6% mapping achievement. This was closely followed by Champawat and Uttarkashi districts, both recording 93.2% completion rates, while Bageshwar district achieved 92.8% mapping.
However, more populous districts demonstrated comparatively lower coverage percentages. Haridwar district reported 77.4% completion, Nainital district achieved 72.2%, Udham Singh Nagar district reached 59.6%, and Dehradun district, despite being the state capital, recorded 57.2% voter mapping completion.
Upcoming Outreach Campaign Phase
The election authorities have announced that the second phase of the Booth Level Officer outreach campaign will commence on February 1 and continue through February 15. This upcoming phase will place special emphasis on connecting with young voters and women voters across Uttarakhand's diverse communities.
Technical Framework and Voter Accessibility
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande explained the technical methodology behind the mapping process. "Voters on the current electoral roll are being systematically mapped with the 2003 list, which remains accessible on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Uttarakhand," he stated.
This digital accessibility allows individual voters to verify their serial numbers and polling booth details through a straightforward online process. Citizens can retrieve this information by providing their assembly constituency details along with their name and either their father's or husband's name as recorded in official documents.
Political Party Participation
In parallel with the administrative efforts, recognized national political parties have received formal requests to appoint Booth Level Agents to facilitate the electoral process. Official data indicates that 12,070 such agents have already been appointed across the state, representing significant political engagement in the preparatory phase.
The comprehensive approach combines technological verification with grassroots outreach, creating a multi-layered strategy to ensure maximum voter participation and electoral integrity in the Himalayan state.
