Haryana Authorities Crack Down on Illegal LPG Use with Seizures and Raids
In a significant enforcement action, the district administrations of Rewari and Mahendragarh in Haryana, in collaboration with the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, have intensified efforts to combat hoarding, black-marketing, and the illegal use of domestic LPG cylinders. This proactive move aims to ensure fair distribution and prevent commercial misuse of subsidized cooking gas.
Rewari District Sees Major Seizure of Domestic Cylinders
During targeted raids across Rewari district, authorities confiscated a total of 81 domestic LPG cylinders from various establishments found engaging in unauthorized activities. Nitish Kumar Singla, the District Food and Supplies Controller for Rewari, emphasized that these actions are part of an ongoing crackdown to deter illegal practices. He stated, "The supply of domestic LPG in the district is smooth, and we have strengthened the supply mechanism through enhanced coordination with oil marketing companies." Singla further urged residents to obtain cylinders only from authorized agencies and report any suspicious activities promptly to facilitate swift action.
Mahendragarh District Reassures Residents Amid Raids
Simultaneously, in Mahendragarh district, raids are underway to monitor and curb similar malpractices. Captain Manoj Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Mahendragarh, reassured the public that there is no shortage of LPG in the district and that supply operations are proceeding smoothly. He highlighted, "The district administration and department officials are constantly monitoring field situations to ensure consumers face no inconvenience." This reassurance comes amid efforts to dispel rumors and prevent panic buying among residents.
Administrative Measures and Public Awareness Initiatives
To bolster transparency and efficiency, a team led by Assistant Food Supply Officer Arun Saini conducted inspections at various gas agencies and warehouses in Mahendragarh. The officials engaged with consumers, explaining that the department is committed to ensuring home deliveries and urged against panic. Key directives issued during these visits include:
- Consumers should pay only the prescribed amount of ₹896 for cylinder delivery from warehouses.
- Gas agencies must prioritize home deliveries, with direct warehouse pickups allowed only in emergencies.
- Agencies are required to post daily route charts to inform residents about LPG arrival schedules in their areas.
The administration has appealed to the public to ignore unfounded rumors about gas shortages and avoid panic booking or purchases. By maintaining vigilant oversight and fostering better coordination with oil companies, authorities aim to stabilize the LPG supply chain and protect consumer interests across both districts.
