Ahmedabad AMC Seals 12 Units, Fines Littering

In a decisive move to uphold public cleanliness, the Solid Waste Management Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a stringent enforcement drive, resulting in the sealing of multiple commercial establishments across the city. The action targets units found guilty of littering and illegally dumping garbage in public spaces.

Widespread Inspections and Penal Actions

The crackdown was executed through coordinated inspections across several zones. In the West Zone alone, AMC teams inspected 234 units. During these checks, notices were served to 144 establishments for failing to comply with waste management norms. The department successfully collected penalties amounting to Rs 2.75 lakh from this zone. Furthermore, six units in the Motera area were sealed for their violations.

East and North West Zones Face Scrutiny

The enforcement was not limited to one area. Similar vigilance was shown in the East Zone, where action was initiated against 265 establishments for public littering. Here, four units were sealed, and the civic body recovered fines totalling Rs 82,000.

Meanwhile, in the North West Zone, the department issued notices to 106 units. As part of the punitive measures, two establishments were sealed for dumping waste in public places. Penalties worth Rs 51,000 were collected from defaulters in this zone.

A Strong Message for Civic Responsibility

This large-scale drive underscores the AMC's zero-tolerance policy towards public littering and improper garbage disposal. By sealing premises and imposing significant financial penalties, the corporation aims to deter businesses and commercial entities from flouting civic rules. The cumulative action across zones sends a clear message about the importance of maintaining urban hygiene and adhering to municipal solid waste management guidelines. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with authorities and dispose of waste responsibly to keep Ahmedabad clean.
