Ahmedabad RPO Announces Special Passport Drive to Address Surging Demand
The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Ahmedabad has announced a significant initiative to tackle the exceptionally high demand for passport services. A special passport drive will be conducted on Saturday, March 14, at two key locations: the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in Bapunagar and the PSK at Vijay Cross Road in Ahmedabad.
Enhancing Appointment Availability for Citizens
This special drive is a direct response to the overwhelming surge in passport applications observed throughout February. The primary objective is to enhance appointment availability and provide faster access to passport services for residents of Ahmedabad and surrounding areas.
Appointments for the March 14 drive have been made available online through the official Passport Seva Web Portal (www.passportindia.gov.in). Both normal and tatkal categories are included in this special initiative.
Opportunities for Rescheduling and Securing Slots
The RPO Ahmedabad has outlined specific provisions for applicants:
- Individuals who already hold appointments for later dates can reschedule to secure a slot for the special drive on March 14.
- Applicants who missed their earlier appointments are also encouraged to reschedule and take advantage of this opportunity.
This flexibility aims to maximize convenience and ensure that more citizens can avail of passport services without unnecessary delays.
Part of Broader Government Initiative for Improved Service Delivery
This special drive is not an isolated event but forms an integral part of the Union Ministry of External Affairs' ongoing efforts to enhance citizen service delivery. The ministry's strategy focuses on:
- Making passport appointments available at the earliest possible date.
- Addressing peak demand periods through targeted capacity augmentation.
Recent Initiatives by RPO Ahmedabad
Earlier this month, the RPO Ahmedabad demonstrated its commitment to expanding access by deploying a Passport Seva Mobile Van in Bhuj. This initiative was designed to strengthen last-mile delivery of passport services in remote areas.
A similar effort was undertaken when a passport van was deployed at Sanand for three days, showcasing the office's proactive approach to meeting citizen needs across the region.
The upcoming special drive on March 14 represents another step in this direction, ensuring that the high demand for passport services is met efficiently and effectively.
