The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's water project department has announced that water supply in the eastern and southern zones of the city will be affected on May 3 due to urgent repair work in the Shedhi Canal. The state irrigation department is undertaking the repairs, which have led to reduced water levels in the canal.
Reason for Water Cut
The irrigation department supplies raw water from the Shedhi Canal to the Rasakha Water Treatment Plant. Due to the urgent repair work, water levels have dropped, resulting in insufficient water at the treatment plant. This has hampered the city's ability to distribute adequate water. The irrigation department is working to normalize water levels by midnight on May 2.
Affected Areas
On May 3, water supply will be reduced in the following areas:
- Ramol-Hathijan area (East Zone)
- Vastral ward (East Zone)
- All water distribution stations in the South Zone
Water will be distributed based on the available quantity in these areas. Residents are advised to store water in advance.
Timings
The water cuts will affect morning and evening hours on May 3. The municipal corporation urges residents to cooperate and use water judiciously during this period.
For further updates, residents can check the official Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation website or local news channels. The corporation regrets the inconvenience caused and assures that efforts are being made to restore normal supply at the earliest.
