Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Intensifies Civic Cleanup Operations
Following the enforcement of the model code of conduct, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a comprehensive citywide campaign targeting unauthorized advertisements and sanitation violations. This coordinated effort aims to restore urban aesthetics and ensure public hygiene compliance across multiple zones.
Massive Removal of Illegal Advertisements
As of Sunday, the civic body has successfully dismantled a substantial number of unauthorized promotional materials. The operation has resulted in the clearance of 121 illegal hoardings, 142 banners, and 208 flags from various locations throughout Ahmedabad. The West Zone emerged as a focal point of this activity, with authorities removing 46 hoardings and 50 banners specifically from this region.
Parallel Sanitation and Plastic Ban Enforcement
Simultaneously, the West Zone's solid waste management department executed a rigorous three-day crackdown targeting establishments violating sanitation regulations and plastic usage bans. Flying squads conducted thorough inspections of 519 commercial and residential units, issuing formal notices to 314 establishments found non-compliant.
The enforcement action yielded significant results:
- Administrative charges totaling Rs 2.8 lakh were collected from violators
- 10.5 kilograms of prohibited plastic materials were seized during inspections
- Eight commercial units were sealed for creating public nuisance, including Vir Krupa Refree Parlor in Nava Vadaj and Magnum Parlor in Chandkheda
Sustained Civic Commitment
Municipal officials have emphasized that these enforcement drives represent an ongoing commitment to urban management rather than temporary measures. The campaigns are being supported by parallel public awareness initiatives designed to educate residents and business owners about civic responsibilities and regulatory requirements.
"Such comprehensive drives will continue with regular frequency to ensure sustained hygiene compliance and maintain the city's visual environment," stated AMC representatives. The coordinated approach addresses both immediate violations and long-term behavioral change through community engagement.
