A brazen armed street robbery captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) has ignited fresh safety concerns in Ludhiana, highlighting a persistent surge in local snatching offences. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at approximately 1 am in the Guru Arjan Dev Nagar area.
Details of the Incident
The CCTV footage, which is circulating widely on social media, shows a woman walking while carrying a purse and a bag. She stopped beside a parked car when two men on a motorcycle approached her. The pillion rider dismounted and attempted to snatch her purse. When the woman resisted, the assailant brandished a machete and threatened her, eventually seizing the bag before fleeing with his accomplice.
The footage also captured a second motorcycle following the attackers. Police suspect that the riders on this second motorcycle were accomplices, potentially acting as lookouts or providing additional support.

A local resident reported being awakened by the woman's screams. This prompted her husband to check their home's live security feed, which had recorded the entire robbery.
