Arunachal Pradesh Commences Self-Enumeration for Census 2027 with Digital Initiative
The self-enumeration process under the house listing and housing census officially began across Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, marking a significant step towards the upcoming Census 2027. This phase allows residents to digitally provide their household details through official platforms, enhancing convenience and accuracy in data collection.
Chief Minister and Deputy CM Lead by Example in Digital Participation
Chief Minister Pema Khandu actively participated in the self-enumeration process from Itanagar, utilizing geo-tagging and digital mapping technologies. In a social media post, Khandu emphasized the importance of this digital approach, stating, "Took part in the self-enumeration phase of the Houselisting and Housing Census under Census 2027, completing my own self-enumeration for the very first time through geo-tagging and digital mapping." He further urged every household to engage actively during this phase and cooperate fully with enumerators during subsequent field visits, ensuring that all information provided is complete and correct.
Similarly, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein completed his self-enumeration at the Namsai deputy commissioner’s office. According to an official report, Mein called upon citizens to support census officials by providing accurate and timely information, highlighting the collective responsibility in this national exercise.
Local Leaders and Officials Join the Census Drive
The initiative saw participation from key local figures, including Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom and Namsai Zilla Parishad chairperson Chau Sujana Namchoom, who also completed their self-enumeration. This widespread involvement underscores the state's commitment to a comprehensive and inclusive census process.
Benefits and Process of Self-Enumeration
The self-enumeration process is designed to be simple and user-friendly, enabling individuals and families to input their own household information directly. This method not only streamlines data collection but also helps ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the census data. Residents are encouraged to provide detailed information about their household composition, housing conditions, and basic amenities, which is crucial for effective planning and development.
Key advantages of self-enumeration include:
- Enhanced convenience through digital platforms
- Reduced errors with direct user input
- Faster data processing for timely results
Upcoming Field Operations and Timeline
Following the self-enumeration phase, the houselisting and housing census field operations are scheduled to commence on May 1 and will continue until May 30. This next stage will involve enumerators conducting physical visits to households to verify and collect additional data, ensuring a thorough and reliable census outcome.
The successful implementation of this digital self-enumeration phase in Arunachal Pradesh sets a positive precedent for Census 2027, promoting active citizen participation and leveraging technology for national data collection efforts.
