Minister Blames Weak Governance for Bengaluru's Woes
Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has stated that Bengaluru's persistent problems are a result of weak governance. In an interview, he argued that improving administrative systems, curbing illegal layouts and unauthorised constructions, and getting the basics right are key to fixing the city.
Administrative Systems Need Overhaul
The minister emphasised that the current administrative framework is inadequate to handle the city's rapid growth. He pointed out that systemic weaknesses have led to poor service delivery and infrastructure deficits.
Illegal Layouts and Unauthorised Constructions
Byre Gowda specifically highlighted the proliferation of illegal layouts and unauthorised buildings as major contributors to urban chaos. He said these violations strain resources and create safety hazards.
Getting the Basics Right
The minister stressed the importance of focusing on fundamentals such as waste management, water supply, and road maintenance. He noted that without addressing these core issues, other improvements would be futile.
Call for Citizen Cooperation
Byre Gowda also urged citizens to cooperate with authorities by adhering to building norms and reporting violations. He said collective effort is necessary to restore order in the city.
