Agrawal stated that the release is expected to facilitate the payment of three months' arrears to staff and pensioners at the earliest possible time.

Budget Context

As the annual budgets for the 2026-27 fiscal year are yet to be approved by the government, the grants have been sanctioned based on allocations made in February 2026. The director added that universities have been instructed to submit utilisation certificates for the grants within one month.

This move is anticipated to bring much-needed relief to thousands of employees and pensioners who had been awaiting the release of funds for several months.
