Municipal Commissioner Acknowledges Error and Issues Strict Advisory
Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide publicly addressed the issue on the social media platform X, acknowledging the misalignment. "The board obstructing pedestrian movement has been removed. It should not have happened," Bhide stated. She explained that the original, properly placed board was shifted and incorrectly reinstated during the reconstruction of the footpath. "All ward-level teams have been strictly advised to be sensitive to public convenience and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)," she emphasized, underscoring the administration's commitment to civic accountability.
Ward Officials Confirm Long-Standing Placement Error
Officials from the P-South ward, under whose jurisdiction the area falls, confirmed that the board had been wrongly positioned approximately a year ago during footpath reconstruction work. Ward Officer Aniruddha Kulkarni admitted to the alignment error, stating, "The issue was brought to our notice on Saturday, and our ward removed the board on Sunday morning." He further announced proactive measures, adding, "We will carry out checks across the ward and remove any obstruction found on footpaths."

The problem was initially flagged by Borivli resident Ajinkya Parulekar, who posted about the glaringly obvious installation error on X. "It was glaringly obvious that the board was installed wrongly.
