Census-2027 Awareness Campaign Launched in Kanpur

An awareness campaign for Census-2027 was launched on Wednesday from NRI City on Mainawati Marg in the Sadar tehsil area of Kanpur. The initiative aims to educate citizens about the importance of this national exercise and encourage participation through self-enumeration.

Campaign Highlights

During the camp, officials informed residents about the significance of the census and explained the online self-enumeration process in detail. Citizens were guided on how to use the ‘Swaganana’ portal, where they can digitally submit information about their families and households.

The officials stated that the self-enumeration facility will be available from May 7 to May 21. The process—including logging in via a mobile number and OTP, filling in family details, and generating a Self-Enumeration (SE) ID—was demonstrated to attendees.

Rural Outreach

As part of the outreach, a parallel awareness drive was also conducted in rural areas. At a primary school in Bania Purwa village under Katri Khewra Gram Panchayat, students organized a rally to spread awareness. Moving through village lanes, the children encouraged residents to actively participate in the census process.

Tehsildar (Sadar), Vinay Dwivedi, emphasized that the census forms the foundation of the country’s development planning. He urged citizens to utilize the self-enumeration facility to ensure accurate and swift data collection. Dwivedi also appealed to people to provide correct and factual information and to participate wholeheartedly in this national initiative.

The campaign underscores the government's commitment to leveraging digital tools for efficient data gathering, aiming for a comprehensive and accurate count that will inform policy and resource allocation for the next decade.
