The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation conducted a sensitization workshop on Saturday regarding the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, and the promotion of waste segregation at the source. The event saw the participation of mayor Saurabh Joshi, MC commissioner Amit Kumar, and other senior officials.

Concerns over door-to-door collection, cleanliness of back lanes, monitoring of sanitation staff, and waste segregation in PGs and rented accommodations were also discussed. Additionally, issues related to waste generated by juice vendors, meat shops, langar organizers, boutiques, and tailoring units were flagged.
