Chandigarh Voter Enumeration Drive June 15-July 14

Chandigarh: The Union Territory will launch a month-long voter enumeration drive from June 15 to July 14 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the photo electoral roll, with July 1, 2026 as the reference date.

Preparations Complete

Chief Electoral Officer Prerna Puri announced on Thursday that Chandigarh currently has 5,16,427 registered voters. Preparations for the exercise are fully complete, with enumeration forms printed and ready for distribution. Officials, including Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Agents (BLAs), and supervisors, have undergone training.

Door-to-Door Visits

BLOs will conduct door-to-door visits to distribute and collect forms. Each voter will receive two copies along with assistance in filling them out. In cases of locked houses, forms will be left behind, and at least three follow-up visits will be made.

Online Submission Option

Forms can also be submitted online via the ECINet mobile app or the Voters’ Service Portal. Subsequent verification by BLOs will be carried out.

Mapping Details Requirement

Voters have been asked to provide mapping details from the 2002-03 revision. If unavailable, they may submit details of parents or grandparents listed in earlier revisions or during the 2025-26 SIR. Officials clarified that inability to furnish such details will not lead to exclusion from the draft roll.

Appeal to Unregistered Residents

The CEO urged eligible but unregistered residents to apply using Form-6. These applications will be processed during the claims and objections phase after the draft roll is published.

Political Parties and BLAs Involved

Political parties and BLAs have been requested to assist in enrolment and flag ineligible entries, including deceased, shifted, or duplicate voters.

Wider Participation Sought

The election department has sought wider participation from Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), institutions, and citizens. A 24x7 helpline (1950), ECINet’s “Book a Call” facility, and help desks across the city will assist voters during the exercise.
