Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, during a surprise inspection tour in the northern part of the state, suspended a cooperative department officer on the spot for alleged irregularities in fertiliser distribution. The action occurred as part of the ongoing 'Sushasan Tihar' initiative, with the chief minister also issuing stern warnings to district collectors regarding lapses in drinking water supply.
Review Meeting in Chirmiri
During a high-level review meeting held in Chirmiri, located in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district, late Thursday evening, Sai expressed strong displeasure over the shortage of drinking water and poor academic performance in schools across Surajpur, Koriya, and MCB districts. The most stringent action was taken following complaints about irregular fertiliser distribution in Koriya district.
Immediate Suspension Ordered
Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, the chief minister ordered the suspension of Assistant Commissioner and Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Ayush Pratap Singh. Officials present at the meeting noted that Sai repeatedly emphasised that governance failures affecting ordinary citizens would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Directives on Water Supply and Health
Sai instructed the collectors of all three districts to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply in rural and water-scarce areas, especially with rising summer temperatures. He directed officials to arrange tanker supply wherever necessary and warned that district collectors would be held directly accountable for any lapses. Additionally, ahead of the monsoon season, Sai ordered administrations to prepare preventive action plans against seasonal diseases. He stressed that cleaning and chlorination of all drinking water sources must be completed on a priority basis before the rains, warning against any outbreaks caused by contamination.
