Cidco demolishes PCMC's Rs 2.3 crore toilet in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: The Panvel City Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) under-construction public toilet worth Rs 2.3 crore has been razed by Cidco near Utsav Chowk, Kharghar. The PCMC allegedly encroached upon Cidco land. The PCMC allegedly did not obtain a no-objection certificate from Cidco, but most of the structural work of the toilet had been completed.

Demolition Sparks Controversy

Following the demolition on Tuesday, one of the corporators has demanded action against those responsible for the wasteful expenditure of civic body funds. A former corporator allegedly demanded construction of the public toilet. Her demand was approved by the PCMC, and construction began, allegedly without checking the ownership.

Details of the Incident

The toilet, located near Utsav Chowk in Kharghar, was being built at a cost of Rs 2.3 crore. Cidco officials stated that the land belonged to them and the PCMC had not obtained the required no-objection certificate. The demolition was carried out to reclaim the encroached land. The PCMC has not yet commented on the matter.
