CISF Trains 40 UP SSF Personnel in X-Ray Security for Namo Bharat Corridor
CISF trains UP SSF for Namo Bharat corridor security

In a significant move to fortify security on India's advanced rapid transit network, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has initiated a specialized training program for personnel from the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UP SSF). The focus is on mastering the X-Ray Baggage Inspection System (X-BIS), a crucial component for the security of the semi-high-speed Namo Bharat Corridor.

Specialized Security Training Commences

The six-day "X-BIS and Security Gadget Handling Course" kicked off at the CISF unit of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's Training Cell, known as 'Kavach'. This premier facility is renowned for its expertise in metro rail and mass rapid transit security. The inaugural batch comprises 40 UP SSF personnel, including an officer of Commandant rank.

Officials revealed that the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which operates the Namo Bharat services, has requested similar training for a total of 240 UP SSF personnel. This large-scale initiative underscores the strategic importance of securing this next-generation transit network in the National Capital Region.

Equipping Forces with Advanced Technology

UP SSF Director General DK Thakur explained the critical nature of the training. He stated that it will equip personnel to efficiently operate the advanced X-BIS scanners, which are widely deployed at airports, metros, and sensitive government installations. "These scanners utilize dual-energy X-ray technology, allowing security staff to see inside baggage with clarity," Thakur said. "The technology enables clear image generation and material differentiation to effectively detect weapons, explosives, and contraband."

He emphasized that the six-day module is designed for direct application in on-ground security management along the entire Namo Bharat corridor. "As parts of the corridor are already open to the public and it will soon be fully operational, this exercise is vital. CISF is the best in the country at handling such security systems," Thakur added.

Boosting Security for Operational Corridor

The training comes at a crucial time as the Namo Bharat Corridor expands its operations. According to NCRTC officials, over 55 kilometers of the 82-kilometer Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor is already operational, with a significant portion running through Uttar Pradesh. This semi-high-speed service is a cornerstone of the region's modern transit infrastructure, making its security paramount.

The collaboration between CISF and UP SSF marks a proactive step in integrating state-of-the-art security protocols with the daily operations of one of India's most ambitious transport projects. The successful training of personnel will ensure that the Namo Bharat Corridor is not only fast and efficient but also meets the highest standards of passenger safety and security.
