New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated a 'Citizen Lounge-cum-New Age Learning Centre' at the New Delhi district magistrate's office, describing it as a step towards making government services more citizen-friendly while creating learning opportunities for the youth.
Inspection of Facilities
During her visit, Gupta inspected the air-conditioned citizen lounge, library, reading corner, and newly built restroom facilities. She emphasized that citizens visiting government offices should have access to comfortable and dignified public facilities, and that improving service delivery remains a priority for the Delhi government.
A New Approach to Governance
Gupta said the facility is more than just a waiting area and reflects a new approach to governance. She noted that children from nearby settlements and economically weaker sections would also be able to use the study and reading facilities available at the centre.
Development into a Learning Hub
According to officials, the learning centre will gradually be developed into a hub for education, career guidance, and skill development. Books related to law, administration, competitive examinations, and career planning will be made available, while computers will be installed to provide access to digital learning resources.
Career Counselling and Workshops
The centre is also expected to host regular career counselling sessions, expert talks, workshops, and skill development programmes aimed at helping students and young people enhance their knowledge and employment prospects. The citizen lounge has been equipped with comfortable seating, newspapers, magazines, and a dedicated reading area for visitors. Senior citizens, women, and children are expected to benefit from the improved facilities while waiting for administrative services.
Commitment to Good Governance
Gupta said good governance extends beyond implementing schemes and includes ensuring a positive experience for every citizen visiting government offices. She also lauded the district administration and project partners for the initiative.
