Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Sunny Raj pulled up medical officers in-charge (MOICs) for unsatisfactory performance in institutional deliveries, first-trimester registration, no scalpel vasectomy (NSV), and other key indicators in Dhanbad.
DDC Directs Micro-Level Planning
Reviewing the functioning of the health department, the DDC directed MOICs to strategize micro-level planning to ensure quality healthcare services for people in their respective blocks. He instructed officials to hold meetings with public representatives to generate awareness about facilities available at health centres. Additionally, he emphasised the need to inspect private hospitals and take strict action in case of irregularities.
Call for Dedication and Accountability
Urging the MOICs to perform duties with dedication and face challenges with responsibility, the DDC warned, “Be prepared for action if you fail to show interest in work and public health programmes.”
Civil Surgeon’s Input
Civil surgeon Dr Alok Vishwakarma stated, “MOICs should refer pregnant women in critical condition to the sadar hospital and submit monthly referral data to the civil surgeon’s office.” He added that a total of 33,496 patients received treatment at the sadar hospital in the past three months — 10,748 in February, 9,806 in March, and 12,942 in April.
Performance Assessment of Health Centres
The DDC assessed the performance of health centres in various areas, including institutional deliveries, malnutrition treatment centres, Rashtriya Bal Suraksha Karyakram, family planning, e-Sanjeevani, National Tobacco Control Programme, NUHM, Mother Teresa advanced health clinics, and Atal mohalla clinics. The review aimed to improve service delivery and address gaps in healthcare provision across the district.
