Delhi Government Greenlights 3,812 Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs 1,798 Crore
In a significant move to bolster urban infrastructure, the Delhi government has approved a total of 3,812 development projects with a combined value of Rs 1,798 crore under the Chief Minister Development Fund. This initiative is specifically designed to facilitate small-scale yet high-impact local development works that directly benefit residents across the national capital.
Review Meeting and Implementation Directives
The approval was finalized during a comprehensive review meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat on Friday. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presided over the session and issued clear directives to officials to accelerate the tendering process and ensure swift implementation of all sanctioned projects. Emphasizing the urgency, she stated that any laxity in execution would not be tolerated, underscoring the government's commitment to timely and efficient development.
Focus Areas and Executing Agencies
The approved projects will concentrate on enhancing local infrastructure in key areas, including:
- Construction and repair of roads and drainage systems
- Improvement of water supply networks
- Installation of street lighting for better safety and visibility
- Development and maintenance of public parks and green spaces
These works are being coordinated and executed through multiple government agencies to ensure comprehensive coverage. The primary bodies involved are:
- Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)
- Delhi Jal Board (DJB)
- Public Works Department (PWD)
Additional Development Boards Reviewed
During the same meeting, Chief Minister Gupta also reviewed ongoing development initiatives under two other key bodies: the Delhi Village Development Board (DVDB) and the Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board (TYADB). The session was attended by DVDB Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, TYADB Chairman Arvinder Singh Lovely, along with other senior government officials.
Under the DVDB, a total of 707 projects worth approximately Rs 1,557 crore have been approved. These projects aim to strengthen basic infrastructure and elevate living standards in rural areas of Delhi. Key components include:
- Construction of roads and drains
- Establishment of drinking water facilities
- Development of parks and installation of street lights
- Building of community centers, school buildings, and footbridges
Similarly, the TYADB has sanctioned 799 projects valued at around Rs 430 crore to boost development in the Trans-Yamuna regions. These initiatives mirror the focus areas of the DVDB, targeting infrastructure upgrades to improve connectivity, sanitation, and public amenities for residents in these areas.
This massive approval of projects represents a concerted effort by the Delhi government to address infrastructural gaps and enhance the quality of life for citizens across both urban and rural landscapes of the capital. By prioritizing local needs through targeted funding, the administration aims to create sustainable and impactful development that resonates with everyday life.
