A fire broke out on Wednesday in a four-storey building located in Bhopal's Karond area, opposite People's Hospital. The flames originated from the generator of an electronic showroom and rapidly spread to nearby air conditioners and furniture. The building also houses a fast food outlet, which fortunately remained undamaged.
Panic and Response
Thick smoke and high flames caused panic among residents, drawing a large crowd from nearby homes and shops. However, the building was not crowded at the time, which helped prevent any casualties. Fire brigades from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) arrived promptly at the scene and brought the blaze under control within approximately 30 minutes.
Cause of the Fire
According to BMC fire wing in-charge Saurabh Patel, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the generator. He stated that while no lives were lost, property damage is estimated to be in the lakhs of rupees. Police from Nishatpura station also reached the site as officials began assessing the losses.
Quick Action Averts Disaster
The quick response by the fire brigade prevented the fire from spreading further and averted a major disaster. Patel added that the timely intervention was crucial in containing the fire and ensuring the safety of nearby structures and residents.
