Food Inspector Suspended in Kurukshetra Wheat Case

The Food and Civil Supplies Department has suspended its inspector, Ankur Jangra, for alleged negligence in duty after a video emerged showing water being sprayed on wheat stocks in Kurukshetra. The incident took place at Alampur village, where a video captured water being sprayed on wheat bags. This prompted a group of farmers affiliated with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) to demand action against the responsible officials.

Investigation and Suspension

Following the complaint, Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena constituted a committee on May 22 to investigate the matter. Based on the committee's report, Director General of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Anshaj Singh, issued orders to suspend Jangra with immediate effect. The inquiry committee was headed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Shahabad, with the District Manager of HAFED, Kurukshetra, serving as a member.

Background of the Incident

The video showing water being sprayed on wheat stocks raised serious concerns about the handling of food grains meant for public distribution. Farmers' unions alleged that such negligence could lead to spoilage of wheat, affecting the quality of supplies. The swift action by the administration underscores the commitment to accountability in the food supply chain.
