The chief of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), Rao, conducted an inspection of KR Market in Bengaluru on Wednesday. During the visit, he emphasized the importance of implementing robust safety measures to handle potential fire emergencies. Rao ordered a comprehensive fire audit of the market premises to identify and mitigate risks.
The inspection comes amid growing concerns over fire safety in crowded marketplaces. Rao stressed the need for strict adherence to fire safety norms and directed officials to ensure that all necessary equipment and protocols are in place. The fire audit will assess existing infrastructure, including fire extinguishers, alarms, and evacuation routes.
Authorities have been instructed to submit a detailed report within two weeks. Rao also urged traders and vendors to cooperate with safety drills and awareness programs. The move aims to prevent fire incidents and enhance preparedness in one of the city's busiest markets.
