Ghaziabad District Magistrate Implements Live Monitoring for Public Hearings

In a significant move to enhance transparency and efficiency in governance, Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ravindra Mander has announced that all public hearings conducted by district-level officials will now be live-monitored from his office. This initiative follows a recent state directive issued by the office of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which mandated live monitoring of proceedings involving district magistrates and high-level police officers across Uttar Pradesh.

Directive to Ensure Prompt Grievance Resolution

DM Ravindra Mander, speaking on Friday, emphasized that the live connectivity will link public hearings directly to his office, ensuring real-time oversight. "All officers have been directed to hear public grievances on working days between 10 am and 12 noon and must ensure they are resolved promptly. Any laxity in this regard will invite strict accountability," Mander stated. He has instructed relevant departments to implement the necessary technical arrangements at the earliest to facilitate this monitoring system.

The primary objective of this measure is to guarantee the timely disposal of public complaints and to fix responsibility in cases of delays or absences during hearings. Mander highlighted that this step aims to address common complaints from citizens about unresponsive officials, thereby improving service delivery and governance at the grassroots level.

Announcement During Weekly Janata Darshan

The announcement was made during the weekly Janata Darshan held at the Ghaziabad Collectorate, where the DM personally addressed complaints spanning various departments, including revenue, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), municipal corporation, electricity, health, and construction. Mander directed officials to ensure time-bound and quality disposal of cases, with a particular focus on land disputes, which he stressed should be resolved through joint spot inspections by police and revenue teams.

Enhancing Accountability Through Real-Time Checks

Explaining the rationale behind the live monitoring, DM Ravindra Mander told reporters, "Every day, I receive complaints from people that certain officials are not responding to their grievances. Through live monitoring, I will be able to check with the officials on the spot and hold them accountable if public grievances are not being heard. This system will also help ensure that officials are present at their workplaces on time and are not lax in conducting public hearings."

This proactive approach is expected to streamline administrative processes, reduce bureaucratic delays, and foster a culture of responsibility among district-level officers. By leveraging technology for live oversight, the Ghaziabad administration aims to set a benchmark for effective public service and governance in the state.
