GMDA Inspects Drainage at Mayfield Garden to Prevent Waterlogging in Gurugram
GMDA Inspects Drainage at Mayfield Garden, Gurugram

Senior officials of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) visited Mayfield Garden on Saturday to inspect drainage systems and review ongoing flood mitigation works, following recent rainfall that caused waterlogging in the area.

Inspection Led by Executive Engineer

Amit Godara, Executive Engineer of GMDA, along with field teams, conducted the inspection under the direction of GMDA CEO PC Meena. The visit focused on assessing progress of drainage improvement works and identifying deficiencies in the network.

During the inspection, a missing link in the drainage network at Mayfield Garden was located. GMDA teams are currently desilting a nearby drain and connecting it to the missing link to effectively tackle waterlogging.

Immediate Measures Ordered

Godara directed the team to open abandoned inlet points and create new infrastructure, stating that the work could be completed within 7-8 days. The inspected stretch from Subhash Chowk to Hero Honda Chowk and Mayfield Garden area was reviewed for flood mitigation efforts.

Specific works inspected included cleaning of road gullies, opening and clearing drainage inlets, ensuring drain connectivity, desilting of drains, and removal of soil and debris from the network.

Priority Actions to Improve Stormwater Flow

These measures are being undertaken on priority to facilitate uninterrupted stormwater flow, improve the carrying capacity of the drainage system, and ensure quicker discharge of rainwater during heavy showers. CEO PC Meena has directed officers to conduct regular field inspections across vulnerable locations during the monsoon season to ensure all flood mitigation measures remain effective.
