Residents of Greater Noida have expressed growing frustration over the deteriorating condition of green belts, footpaths, and parks, particularly in sectors Xu 3, Beta 1, and the Pari Chowk area. They argue that poor maintenance of these public spaces has sparked serious concerns regarding safety, hygiene, and the overall aesthetics of the city.
Specific Complaints from Sector Xu 3
Pankaj Sharma, vice president of the Sector Xu 3 Residents Welfare Association (RWA), has written a letter to GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar, detailing the issues faced by residents. According to Sharma, the overgrowth of dense grass and the accumulation of garbage on footpaths have created an environment of fear. "The dense grass creates a constant fear of poisonous creatures and snakes in the sector," Sharma stated, urging the Authority to take immediate action to clean and level the footpaths to ensure the safety of residents.
Drains in Xu 2 Choked with Trash
In addition to the footpath issues, drains in Xu 2 are reported to be choked with trash and sludge, exacerbating hygiene concerns. Residents have called for urgent desilting and cleaning operations to prevent waterlogging and the spread of diseases.
Beta 1 and Pari Chowk Areas
Harinder Bhati, general secretary of the Beta 1 RWA, highlighted the deplorable condition of roundabouts and green belts in the area. "The condition of all green belts and central verges across Greater Noida city is deplorable," Bhati said. Residents of Beta 1 specifically noted that the roundabout near the Migsun Ultimo Society has remained neglected, despite being adopted for maintenance. No repairs have been carried out, leaving the area in disrepair.
Pari Chowk: A Focal Point in Disarray
The situation is particularly grave around Pari Chowk, the city’s focal point. Overgrown bushes, dry grass, and litter have replaced the once vibrant greenery that characterized the area. Residents are questioning the commitment of the horticulture department, and many are puzzled by the apparent indifference towards this important location. "Despite repeated complaints, the condition of these vital areas continues to deteriorate," Bhati added.
Official Response and Future Plans
While residents await tangible progress on the ground, officials have assured that revamp work will begin soon. This includes a comprehensive makeover of the Pari Chowk area. However, residents remain skeptical, emphasizing the need for immediate action to restore the city's green spaces and ensure safety and hygiene for all.
