Gurgaon gets Rs 113 crore boost: CM Saini inaugurates projects, lays foundation
Gurgaon development projects worth Rs 113 crore launched

In a significant push for urban infrastructure, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday launched a series of development projects in Gurgaon with a cumulative worth of approximately Rs 113 crore. The event, part of the 'Viksit Gurugram Maharally' organized by local MLA Mukesh Sharma, saw the Chief Minister both inaugurate completed works and lay the foundation stone for new initiatives aimed at easing civic woes and boosting the city's profile.

Major Inaugurations to Tackle Congestion and Community Needs

The CM inaugurated projects with a total value of Rs 73 crore. The headline project was the much-anticipated multi-level car parking facility in Sadar Bazar, constructed at a cost of Rs 55 crore. This facility, built over 3,187 square metres, features three basements and six floors with a capacity for 218 vehicles. Its operationalization is expected to significantly alleviate the chronic parking problems in one of Gurgaon's oldest and most congested market areas.

The car park's completion came after a four-year delay, having missed its original December 2021 deadline and finally being finished in 2025. To ensure its smooth functioning, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has outsourced its operation and maintenance to a private company for a five-year period.

Another key inauguration was a new community centre in Sector 14, developed with an investment of Rs 18 crore, which will serve as a hub for social and cultural activities for residents.

Foundation Stones for Future Infrastructure

Chief Minister Saini also laid the foundation stones for several new projects worth around Rs 40 crore, setting the stage for Gurgaon's continued development. These include:

  • A model road and drain system in Sector 16 (Rs 8.32 crore).
  • Sewerage and drinking water pipeline work in Sector 17A (Rs 6.28 crore).
  • Hostel construction in Sector 16 (Rs 6.67 crore).
  • Special repair work for the new vegetable market (Rs 19.41 crore).

Government's Development Pledge and Track Record

Addressing the gathering, CM Saini reaffirmed his government's commitment to Gurgaon's comprehensive growth. "The government will leave no stone unturned in the comprehensive development of Gurgaon," he stated, adding that continuous steps would be taken to make it the most developed city in the country.

He highlighted the administration's performance, noting that out of 217 promises made in the assembly election manifesto, 54 have been fulfilled within a year, while work is in progress on 163 others. He described the government as a "people's government" driven by the resolve of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas'.

Providing a longer-term perspective, Saini said that in the last 11 years, development works worth Rs 1,909 crore were executed in the Gurgaon assembly constituency alone. Of 67 specific announcements made for the area in the past eleven and a half years, 39 have been completed and work is ongoing on 11 more.

Focus on Sustainable and Green Development

Aligning development with environmental concerns, the Chief Minister outlined efforts to control pollution. He announced that around 300 electric buses will soon join the city's fleet, and works are underway to improve sanitation management to tackle air pollution. He emphasized that nature conservation is being given equal importance, with initiatives to expand small oxygen pockets and parks within the urban landscape.

This massive infusion of projects underscores a concerted effort to address Gurgaon's infrastructure demands while balancing modernization with sustainability, aiming to enhance the quality of life for its residents.
