The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has issued a demolition alert for illegal encroachments in three prime sectors of Gurugram. The development authority has identified unauthorized structures in Sectors 14, 15, and 17, which are known to house several high-profile residents and commercial establishments.
Targeted Areas and Structures
According to HSVP officials, the demolition drive will focus on encroachments on public land, including parks, roads, and community spaces. In Sector 14, multiple residential properties have been found violating building bylaws, while in Sector 15, commercial units have extended beyond their approved boundaries. Sector 17, a commercial hub, has several shops and restaurants operating from unauthorized areas.
Legal Notices Issued
HSVP has served notices to the occupants, giving them a final opportunity to remove the encroachments voluntarily. Failure to comply will result in forceful demolition, and the cost of demolition will be recovered from the defaulters. The authority has warned that strict action will be taken against those who resist or obstruct the demolition process.
Previous Demolition Drives
This is not the first such drive by HSVP. In recent months, the authority has conducted similar operations in other parts of the city, clearing encroachments from several sectors. However, the upcoming drive is significant as it targets high-profile areas where VIPs and influential individuals reside or operate businesses.
Residents' Reactions
Residents of the affected sectors have expressed mixed reactions. Some welcome the move, hoping it will decongest the areas and improve infrastructure. Others, particularly those facing demolition, have raised concerns about the lack of adequate notice and alternative arrangements. A few residents have also questioned the selective targeting, alleging that some powerful individuals have been spared.
HSVP's Stand
HSVP officials have clarified that the drive is impartial and based on survey reports. They have urged all encroachers to remove their structures voluntarily to avoid legal action. The authority has also assured that due process will be followed, and any grievances can be addressed through the proper channels.
The demolition drive is expected to begin within a week, and HSVP has deployed additional staff and machinery for the operation.
