Haryana Government Greenlights Major Development Push with Rs 1,028 Crore Project Approvals

In a significant move to accelerate development across the state, the Haryana government has finalized procurement processes and approved key projects for various departments. The decisions were made during a crucial meeting of the High-Powered Purchase Committee held at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Massive Financial Allocation and Strategic Savings

The committee granted approval for expenditure totaling approximately Rs 1,028 crore on projects spanning more than ten vital departments. These include the Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), Public Works Department, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation Limited, Directorate of Medical Education and Research Haryana (DMER), Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA), Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Haryana Irrigation Department, and the Public Health Engineering Department Haryana (PHED).

Notably, through strategic negotiations with bidders, the government achieved substantial savings of around Rs 96 crore, demonstrating prudent financial management.

Chief Minister's Directives for Quality and Timely Completion

While chairing the meeting, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that the primary objective of the government is to provide better quality services to the people of Haryana. He issued clear directives to officials to ensure regular monitoring of all projects to guarantee completion within stipulated timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Saini added that he would personally review the progress of these projects and stressed that all officers must ensure judicious use of funds. He made it unequivocally clear that any negligence in development works will not be tolerated under his administration.

Specific Procurement and Project Approvals

During the meeting, procurement processes were finalized for several essential items, including 11-metre-long PCC poles, single-phase and three-phase net meters, and 25 KVA transformers. Additionally, approval was granted for commodity procurement worth Rs 29 crore under the supplementary nutrition program as part of the 'Har-Hith' retail project of Haryana Agro Industries Corporation Limited.

Key Infrastructure and Development Initiatives

Medical Education Enhancement: A project worth Rs 5.7 crore was approved for implementing the 'Student and Faculty Life Cycle Management System' (SFLM) in government medical colleges across the state. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and integration within the medical education system.

Water Management Projects: A project valued at Rs 6.6 crore received approval for conducting surveys and preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for storm water diversion from the Gurugram metropolitan area towards the Yamuna River.

Infrastructure Development: Several major infrastructure projects received financial sanctions:

  • Rs 47.2 crore for constructing a Home Guard and Civil Defence Training Centre in Hasanpur village, Karnal
  • Rs 17.7 crore for a master water supply scheme in Faridabad
  • Rs 17.7 crore for constructing a 100 MLD MPS and a 100 MLD STP at Dhanwapur in Gurugram
  • Rs 101 crore for constructing a main pumping station with a capacity of 665.5 MLD in Gurugram

Recreational and Sports Infrastructure

The committee also approved funds for recreational and sports facilities:

  • Rs 20 crore for developing Atal Park in Sector-1, Panchkula
  • Rs 109.80 crore for constructing a world-class shooting range sports complex in Sector-32

This comprehensive approval of projects across multiple sectors represents a significant step forward in Haryana's development agenda, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure, public services, and quality of life improvements for residents.
