A significant meeting of the High-Powered Works Committee (HPWC) under the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) department was convened on Wednesday, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presiding over the proceedings at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh.

The committee engaged in thorough deliberations concerning major urban infrastructure and development initiatives planned across the state of Haryana. Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel was also in attendance, underscoring the importance of the gathering.
Financial Approvals and Savings
During the session, the committee reviewed three specific tenders with an initial estimated cost totaling Rs 136.64 crore. Following detailed negotiations with the bidders involved, the final approved cost was successfully reduced to approximately Rs 127.87 crore. This strategic financial management resulted in substantial savings of nearly Rs 8.77 crore for the state exchequer.
Additionally, the HPWC ordered the re-tendering process for a fourth project, indicating a commitment to ensuring optimal value and transparency in public procurement.
Approved Urban Development Projects
The projects that received the green light from the committee are pivotal for enhancing urban living standards:
- Faridabad Water Supply System: A tender for establishing a comprehensive water supply system aimed at civic amenities and infrastructure-deficient areas within Faridabad town. This initiative falls under the ambitious AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) programme.
- Ambala City Road Sweeping: A project for the mechanised and manual sweeping of roads under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation in Ambala City, focusing on improved sanitation and urban cleanliness.
- Gurugram Shrine Redevelopment: Clearance for balance works associated with the redevelopment of the Shree Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Campus in Gurugram. These works encompass critical public health services, electrical systems, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and firefighting systems.
Chief Minister's Directives
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the critical need for the timely execution of all approved projects while strictly adhering to high-quality standards. He reiterated the state government's unwavering commitment to several key objectives:
