Haryana Government Greenlights Major Development Initiatives Worth Rs 657 Crore
In a significant move to bolster infrastructure and public services, the Haryana government has finalized development works valued at approximately Rs 657 crore. The approvals were granted during a meeting of the high-powered purchase committee, which was convened under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Comprehensive Approvals Across Key Sectors
The committee reviewed a total of 15 agenda items with a cumulative worth of Rs 675.82 crore. After thorough negotiations and discussions, contracts were successfully finalized for Rs 657.82 crore. This strategic decision resulted in substantial savings of around Rs 68.13 crore for the state exchequer, demonstrating prudent fiscal management.
Approvals were extended for the procurement of essential equipment across several critical departments, including:
- Public Health
- Public Works Department
- Urban Local Bodies
- Agriculture
- Power Corporations
In addition to equipment purchases, the tender process for numerous development projects was also completed, paving the way for timely execution.
Chief Minister's Directives for Quality and Timeliness
During the meeting, Chief Minister Saini issued clear instructions to officials, emphasizing the importance of regular monitoring to ensure that all development projects are completed within stipulated deadlines. He stressed that special attention must be given to maintaining high-quality standards in all construction and procurement activities.
Saini warned that any delays or negligence in quality would not be tolerated, and he mandated that the tender processes be completed promptly. He further stated that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any officer found to be negligent in their duties, underscoring the government's commitment to accountability and efficiency.
Key Infrastructure Projects Approved
The meeting saw the approval of several high-impact infrastructure projects, including:
- Automated Coal Supply and Maintenance: Processes for automated coal supply and maintenance at the Yamunanagar and Panipat thermal power plants were approved, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency in the energy sector.
- Power Transformers Procurement: The procurement of 220 KV and 33/11 KV power transformers for the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVNL) was finalized, which will help in strengthening the power distribution network.
- Pipeline Laying in Gurugram: Approval was granted for laying a pipeline from Basai water works to Sector 25 under Railway Line No. 2 in Gurugram. The pipeline, with diameters ranging from 1,600 mm to 600 mm, will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 55 crore. Officials were instructed to commence work immediately and ensure completion before the monsoon season to prevent disruptions.
- Boosting Station Pipeline: A pipeline for the boosting station in Sector 16 was also approved, further enhancing water supply infrastructure.
- Stormwater Drainage in Gurugram: The construction of an RCC master drain from Ashok Vihar to the nearby Bhimgarh Kheri Railway Culvert No. 50 was sanctioned at a cost of approximately Rs 17.60 crore. This project is crucial for effective stormwater drainage in the region.
- Sewage Treatment Plant in Faridabad: The tender process for setting up a 20 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant in Faridabad was completed, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 41.84 crore, aimed at improving sanitation and environmental sustainability.
- Judicial Complex in Bawal: The construction of a Judicial Complex at Bawal was approved, with a budget of Rs 18 crore, to enhance judicial infrastructure and services.
- Water Release from STP: Approval was also granted for the work of releasing water from the Kalanwali Sewage Treatment Plant to the Rodi Ghaggar drain, contributing to better water management practices.
These initiatives reflect the Haryana government's focused approach to addressing infrastructure gaps and promoting sustainable development across the state. The comprehensive approvals are expected to significantly improve public amenities and boost economic growth in the coming months.
