Himachal CM Sukhu Inspects Jaskot Heliport, Sets May Deadline for Completion
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conducted a detailed inspection of the under-construction heliport at Jaskot in Hamirpur district on Friday. The project, which is being developed at a cost of Rs 18 crore, is a key part of the state government's infrastructure push aimed at enhancing tourism and regional connectivity.
Urgent Call to Accelerate Construction Work
During his visit, Chief Minister Sukhu urged the officials overseeing the project to speed up the construction process and ensure its completion by May. He emphasized that timely delivery of such infrastructure projects is crucial for meeting the state's developmental goals and improving public facilities.
Focus on Tourism and Economic GrowthSukhu highlighted the government's strong focus on boosting tourism, stating that improved connectivity and robust infrastructure are essential for enhancing visitor facilities across Himachal Pradesh. He pointed out that growth in the tourism sector would not only boost the state's economy but also create significant employment opportunities for the youth, thereby addressing local livelihood concerns.
Expansion of Heliport Network Across the State
The chief minister noted that heliports are being developed in all district headquarters and major tourist destinations throughout the hill state. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen air connectivity and make travel more accessible for both tourists and residents.
Recent and Upcoming Helicopter ServicesSukhu mentioned that recently launched helicopter services from the Sanjauli heliport to Chandigarh and Reckong Peo have already made travel easier for tourists. He added that additional services on the Sanjauli-Rampur-Reckong Peo and Sanjauli-Manali (SASE Helipad) routes will commence soon, further enhancing the air connectivity network in the region.
Review of Hamirpur Bus Stand Project
In addition to the heliport inspection, Chief Minister Sukhu also reviewed the progress of the under-construction Hamirpur Bus Stand, a major project valued at Rs 123 crore. He observed that work on both the heliport and bus stand projects is progressing swiftly and expressed confidence that their timely completion would provide enhanced infrastructure and greater convenience to the residents of Hamirpur district.
Sukhu reiterated the government's commitment to developing comprehensive infrastructure that supports tourism, improves transportation, and fosters economic development. The completion of these projects is expected to significantly benefit the local community by providing better facilities and boosting regional connectivity.
