Indore Collector Takes Strict Action Over Revenue Record Irregularities
In a decisive move to uphold administrative integrity, Indore Collector Shivam Verma has ordered the immediate suspension of two government employees and issued a show-cause notice to a naib tehsildar. This action comes in response to serious irregularities uncovered in revenue records, sparking concerns over procedural lapses and potential misconduct within the local administration.
Complaint Triggers Detailed Inquiry
The crackdown was initiated following a formal complaint related to a revenue case in village Bhingariya, located under Khudel tehsil. The complainant alleged that names of certain individuals were illegally entered into the revenue records through unauthorised mutation processes, raising red flags about the handling of sensitive land documentation.
To ensure a thorough investigation, Additional Collector Roshan Rai has been directed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter. This step underscores the administration's commitment to transparency and accountability in addressing such grievances.
Immediate Suspensions Under MP Civil Services Rules
Based on the findings of an initial inquiry, patwari Rohit Tiwari was suspended with immediate effect under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966. During his suspension period, his headquarters has been designated as the tehsil office in Depalpur, restricting his official duties pending further review.
In the same case, assistant grade-3 Meena Yadav, who was posted at tehsil Khudel, has also been suspended. The inquiry revealed that she failed to maintain the required diligence in keeping records pertaining to court proceedings, highlighting a lapse in her responsibilities that contributed to the irregularities.
Show-Cause Notice Issued to Naib Tehsildar
Additionally, Dayaram Nigam, who served as the in-charge naib tehsildar during the period in question, has been issued a show-cause notice. He has been directed to submit his explanation within three days, with a clear warning that failure to do so will result in disciplinary action being initiated against him.
This notice serves as a critical step in holding higher-ranking officials accountable for oversight and management of revenue records, ensuring that all levels of the administration are scrutinised in this case.
Broader Implications for Governance
The actions taken by Collector Shivam Verma reflect a broader effort to combat corruption and inefficiency in government operations. By addressing such irregularities promptly, the administration aims to restore public trust and reinforce the importance of adherence to legal and procedural norms in revenue matters.
As the inquiry progresses, further developments are expected to shed light on the extent of the irregularities and any additional measures that may be required to prevent similar incidents in the future.
