Indore Railway Station Shifts to New Building with Upgrades

Indore: Operations at Laxmibai Nagar railway station are being shifted from the old building to a newly-constructed station building, incorporating critical infrastructure upgrades like yard remodelling and advanced electronic train control systems.

As part of this transition, railway authorities executed a major traffic block on Thursday to conduct essential non-interlocking work. According to Ratlam Division public relations officer Mukesh Kumar, the technical block required temporary cancellation of four local passenger trains, short-termination or short-origination of eight DEMU services, and diversion of 10 express trains to ensure safety during track modifications.

The non-interlocking operations involved reconfiguring the yard’s signalling layout, track circuits, and safety mechanisms to synchronize with the new administrative hub. Key installations inside the new facility, including the station master’s office, relay room, and Integrated Power Supply (IPS) units, are nearing completion.

Once administrative and ticketing services completely migrate to the new building, the old station structure will be demolished to expedite the construction of Platforms 1 and 2. Railway authorities plan to complete these platforms within the next 45 days.
