Israel reaffirms commitment to strengthen defence ties with India
Israel has expressed its commitment to expand the ambit of defence cooperation with India under the Special Strategic Partnership between the two countries. The assurance came during the visit of Major General (Retd) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defence, to India.
In a post on X, the Office of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that Maj Gen Baram called on Singh to brief him about Israel's commitment to broaden defence collaboration. Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, reshared the post and highlighted ongoing joint projects aimed at enhancing the partnership.
Joint projects and diplomatic exchanges
Ambassador Azar said on X, "Thank you Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh for hosting Maj Gen Amir Baram DG of Israel's Ministry of Defence. Together we are creating more joint projects that will make this ??+?? partnership even more unique!"
India and Israel have witnessed significant growth in defence cooperation, both in scope and scale. The Joint Statement issued during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel noted that both leaders provided a vision and roadmap for future defence cooperation.
Strengthening strategic partnership
Speaking at Israel's 78th Independence Day event, Ambassador Azar highlighted growing cooperation in security, technology, and innovation. He stated, "This year marks an important milestone in our partnership. During the recent visit of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israel, our ties were elevated to a 'Special Strategic Partnership', reflecting the growing depth and ambition of our engagement. The visit added fresh momentum to our cooperation, and more than fifteen agreements and MoUs were signed to further strengthen collaboration for the benefit of our peoples."
The defence cooperation between India and Israel continues to deepen, with both sides committed to expanding joint projects and enhancing strategic ties.
